  • Step 1

Raise your DeductibleUsually, the higher your deductible, the lower your premium will be. The deductible is the amount that you pay out-of-pocket to fix your car if you have an accident. If you raise your deductible, you will have to pay more out-of-pocket in the event of an accident, but your monthly premiums will usually go down. So if you don’t think you’ll have many accidents, then raise your deductible.

  • Step 2

Consult with your Agent to Lower your PremiumsAn easy and affective way to lower your premiums is to meet with your Allstate Agent and re-figure or change your current insurance plan. Your agent has the ability to change or update your existing plan. If you are paying for extra services that you don’t really need, such as Roadside Assistance or rental car coverage, then you can drop or change these from your plan in order to lower your premium.

  • Step 3

Take a Safe Driver’s Education ClassMany auto insurance companies usually offer their customers a discount for taking a short driver’s education class. These are sometimes held in the local community or DMV and meet once or twice a week. They basically teach safe driving techniques and how to be a defensive driver. Sometimes, Allstate only gives a discount for this if you are a young or inexperienced driver, but you can still call your Allstate agent and ask them the about the details. Allstate will reward you with a discount if they see you have taken this class.

  • Step 4

Be a Loyal Customer for More than a YearBoth Allstate and State Farm reward their customers that stay with the company for over a year. Usually if you keep your insurance through Allstate for a certain number of years, you can start getting a Loyal Customer discount. For example, anyone who has been a customer for at least 1 year, could receive a discount of up to 3% on their premiums. Ask your Allstate agent about the specific details of this. Make sure you take advantage of this, because most customers may not even know!

  • Step 5

Be a Good DriverThis may be stating the obvious, however Allstate gives some of the best rewards to customers who are accident free. If you avoid accidents for a certain period of time, Allstate will classify you as a “Good Driver” which gives you big discounts on your premium. These discounts can be anywhere from 5-20% off your monthly premiums.Note that California drivers can earn an extra discount for being a “California Good Driver.” By law you have to receive a 20% discount if you live in California and are considered a California Good Driver by Allstate.

  • Step 6

Add a Relative to your Insurance PlanCustomers will receive a multiple Autos discount by adding relatives to their insurance plan. Depending on how many members are covered under one policy, your rates could drop by as much as 20% a year.

  • Step 7

If you are a Student, Apply for the “Good Student Discount”Students usually fit into their own insurance category when it comes to driving. If you are still in College and are a fairly good driver, then ask your Allstate Agent about applying for this discount.
