Google has unveiled new car docks for its Nexus One phone which motor insurance policyholders may be keen to get their hands on.

The cradle not only holds the Nexus One, but also charges the phone’s battery, allows the motor insurance policyholder to use the device hands free and provides easier access to voice and navigation apps.

It has built-in speakers and volume controls which also help to enhance the in-car music and media experience for drivers and their passengers.

The dock can be mounted on the windscreen or dashboard using an adhesive disc that allows it to be attached to a textured or smooth surface.

It comes with a charger to fit into a car’s 12-volt utility socket and the holder can rotate.

One application which may be useful for drivers is the mobile version of the Highways Agency website, which provides access to live traffic information, including the latest incident reports.
